Thanks for all the info. Especially the part about fine tuning and determining which social bookmarking sites to be on so that you can be truly active and social.

When I first started a couple years ago I just bookmarked everything everywhere...then never had the time to come back and join in the conversations or get involved. Bad, Bad, Bad! It gained me nothing and took me quite awhile to understand the whole concept of really being a part of the community instead of just dropping a link and leaving.

Also...thanks for sharing the list of social bookmarking sites. There's a few there I've never heard of (as if I need more?).

I think the key is to continue to offer something of value to other people and, as was stated, constantly keep tabs on targeted social media sites. This will get the word out. As is everything, there are learning experiences and one will never be perfect. However, taking what did not work and turning that into a positive to learn from is essential. I fully agree with these steps and they make great sense.

Thanks for the post. I am a young, aspiring entrepreneur in college who is fairly new to the whole social media scene. I am passionate about business finance and blogs like this are extremely helpful to getting myself started in social media.
